Introduction

This tour takes you to some popular National Parks in Uganda that include Lake Mburo National Park for game drives and boat cruises, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park for gorillas, Queen Elizabeth National park for game drives and a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel, Kibale National park for chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi wetland walk before you drive to Murchison Falls National park for game drives and a boat cruise to the bottom of the magnificent Murchison Falls

DAY BY DAY, Uganda Safari Tours

Day 1: Welcome to Uganda

Our company representative will pick you up on arrival at Entebbe International Airport and drive you to Gorilla Africa Guesthouse, where you will spend one night on bed and breakfast. Just 10 minutes drive from Entebbe international airport. Time permitting, you can visit attractions within Entebbe including: Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre; Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary, Bussi Island Bird Sanctuary; Entebbe Botanical garden; Victoria Shopping malls; Uganda Reptile Village; Lake Victoria and Beaches; local market. Please note that all activities today are at additional cost. Journey time: 10 minutes. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and overnight at Lake Victoria Laico Hotel

Day 2: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast, drive to Lake Mburo National Park with a stopover at the Equator crossing in Kayabwe for photography, stretching and simple experiments. You will arrive in Lake Mburo National Park in time for an en route game drive and a boat cruise on the Lake. Drive time: Approximately 5-6 hours, Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and overnight stay at Lake Mburo Safari Lodge or Rwakobo Rock

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

After breakfast, you will enjoy an en route game drive through Lake Mburo National Park as you proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park located in Southwestern Uganda. This journey gives you great opportunities for scenic viewing as you go pass some of the green rolling hills of Uganda with banana and tea plantations. Lunch will be served en route and you will arrive in Bwindi in the evening. Drive time: 6-7 hours. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and overnight stay at Rushaga Gorilla Havens Lodge or Trekkers Tervan Lodge.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest

After an early morning breakfast, with your packed lunch, you will report to the Park Headquarters at about 7:45 am for registration and then you will join other trackers for a briefing about the Dos and the Don’ts during your Gorilla Tracking safari. Your guides will lead you through the thick creepers and undergrowth as you trek to find the Gorillas. This trek can take you half an hour to three quarters of the day. The steeply forested landscape is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. The amount of time you take during the trek largely depends on the movement of the gorillas. But it is an extraordinary feeling being with these beautiful yet endangered Creatures. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner at Rushaga Gorilla Havens Lodge or Trekkers Tervan Lodge.

Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

This morning you will depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will arrive in time for Lunch at the lodge and an afternoon game drive in the plains of Kasenyi in search for Savannah wildlife that may include herds of buffaloes, antelopes, elephants and if you are lucky, you will spot some wild cats such as lions and leopard. Journey time: 4-5 hours, Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and overnight stay at Elephant Hab/Pumba Safari Lodge

Day 6: Morning Game Drive - Afternoon Boat Safari

Welcome to morning game drive in the park. You will need to be up before the sun and in the vehicle after a quick snack to see the best sightings. This is when the land is cool and the animals are most active, when anything is possible and sighting comes quickly. Elephants, buffalo and several species of antelope, lions, leopard are some of the animals you may come accross. Later in the day you will go for a boat safari. when the sun is high in the sky the animals make their way to the river for a drink, we will head to Kazinga Channel for an exciting boat safari (a fantastic way to get close to wildlif). Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and overnight stay at Elephant Hab\Pumba Safari Lodge.

Day 7: Morning Game Drive - transfer to Kibale National Park

After an early breakfast, you will drive to the Northern bank of the Queen Elizabeth National Park (Kasenyi) area in search of some wild animals which include: Elephants, Buffalo, and some wild cats, different species of antelopes such water buck, Uganda kobs etc. as well as Savannah birds. After lunch you will drive to Kibale National Park arriving at your lodge in the evening. Drive time: 3-4 hours, Breakfast, Lunch and dinner and overnight stay at Chimpanzee Forest guest house or Isunga Lodge

Day 8: Chimpanzee Trekking - Bigodi Swamp Walk

No other animal reminds us so much of ourselves as the chimpanzee. Besides many common features and mannerisms, chimpanzees also share 98% of our human DNA, making them our closest living relatives. It is not so surprising then that we find the habits and biology of these primates so fascinating to study. While Chimpanzees can be found in 21 countries throughout Africa, they are most easily sighted in Uganda due to the high concentration of the species here. After breakfast, you will be transferred to Kibale National Park Headquarters located at Kanyanchu. Here, you will join other trekkers for briefing before you proceed into the forest for chimpanzee trekking. you will have the opportunity to follow an experienced guide into the forest to observe these fascinating creatures at a close range. Watching them interact with each other and go about their daily routine of grooming, playing and foraging is an incredible experience. The Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary is home to 8 primate species, over 200 bird species, butterflies and various reptiles. For bird lovers the highlight of the afternoon is spotting the beautiful great blue turaco. Both the Community Walk and Swamp Walk are operated by KAFRED, a registered community-based organization. The income from the walk is used for community development projects such as schools and hospitals.

Day 9: Drive to Murchison Falls National Park

Drive to Murchison Falls National Park through small towns, villages and great views of the escarpment arriving late evening. Drive time: Approximately 8-9 hours drive. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and overnight stay at Pakuba Safari Lodge or Murchison River Lodge.

Day 10: Morning game drive - Afternoon boat cruise

After an early morning breakfast, you be transfered to the Northern section of the park which is popularly known as Paraa for your morning game drive. Paraa comes from a local dialect of the Luo community which means a place of Hippos. In deed this game drive will provide you with an opportunity to spot wild game that may include, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes, hippos and if you are lucky you will spot cats such as lions and leopards. You will return to the lodge for a lunch break before you proceed to the pier for your two hour boat cruise to the bottom of the magnificent Murchison Falls where you will be able to spot several schools of Hippos as well as be able to witness how the River Nile water squeezes itself in a narrow gorge only to later explode out giving you an experience of a lifetime. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner at Pakuba Safari Lodge or Murchison River Lodge.

Day 11: Drive to Entebbe International Airport

Like all great jouneys, the 11 day safari has come to an end. After breakfast, you will drive back to Entebbe international Airport. Depending on your flight time, you may visit the Zziwa Rhino sanctuary (optional and not included). Drive time: 5-6 hours.
