Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast you will travel to Murchison Falls National Park. The drive to Northern Uganda is long but rewarding, taking you through busy roadside markets and quiet rural villages. This Park is Uganda's best-known and biggest nature reserve. Its most memorable feature is the Victoria Nile which cuts through the park, running along a series of rapids before shooting out of a narrow channel in an incredibly powerful waterfall. From the raised deck of your private safari suite you will have excellent views over the river. Bathing elephants and hippos are regularly seen here and you’ll have a good chance for bird watching. Sunset from the restaurant is particularly spectacular so make sure you find your way there for complimentary sundowners. Journey time: 6 Hours Drive. Breakfast, lunch, dinner & overnight stay at Bakers Lodge.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive - Afternoon Boat Cruise

Welcome to morning game drive in the park. You will need to be up before the sun and in the vehicle after a quick snack to see the best sightings. This is when the land is cool and the animals are most active, when anything is possible and sighting comes quickly. Elephants, buffalo and several species of antelope, lions, leopard are some of the animals you may come accross. Later in the day you will take a boat safari towards Murchison Falls which is the special highlight of the day. On this 3-hour journey upstream on the Victoria Nile you will pass by breathtaking scenery, many crocodiles, hippos, buffaloes, water birds, and monkeys that come down to the Nile for a cool drink in the hot afternoon. The boat will drop you near the waterfall for your hike (1-1.5 hrs) up to the top of the falls. Breakfast, lunch, dinner & overnight stay at Bakers Lodge.

Day 4: Boat Cruise on The Nile Delta

The Nile Delta is the area where the Victoria Nile flows into Lake Albert. The banks of the delta are home to hundreds of bird species including the rare and prehistoric-looking shoebill stork. If you are a birds lover this trip is a “must-do”, but this 20-kilometer cruise downstream is also a very nice opportunity to see beautiful landscapes, the daily routines of the local fishermen who catch tilapia from their wooden canoes in Lake Albert, and ofcourse wildlife. Elephants and hippos are regularly seen bathing in the river and crocodiles resting on the banks. Looking over in the treetops you may see the Eastern Fringed Monkeys or Baboons. One of the highlights of the 5-hour boat ride is a stop along the banks for a superb bush breakfast served by your private chef. In the afternoon you can choose to go on another game drive in the park, or to just relax at the lodge. It’s your day. Accommodation Bakers Lodge Meal Plan Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day 5: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast you will drive for 8 hours to Kibale Forest National Park. The scenic drive will take you through tea plantations, lively village markets and over rolling hills of lush green countryside that is so characteristic of western Uganda. Kibale Forest National Park itself is an extensive tract of dense tropical rainforest located just south of the town Fort Portal. The park harbor the highest density of primates in all of Africa. Among them are the rare red colobus monkey, black and white colobus, colorful birds and chimpazees. The highlight of a trip to Kibale Forest is of course to spend some time observing the wonderfully entertaining chimpanzees. A place surrounded by the lush, evergreen landscapes of the Ugandan Great Crater Lakes region, set between two extinct volcanoes, nestled against the turquoise waters of the Lyantonde and Kifuruka lakes and with exhilarating views over the majestic Ruwenzori Mountain Range. Journey time: 8 hours. Breakfast, lunch, dinner & overnight stay at at Papaya Lake Lodge.

Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest

After breakfast you will follow an experienced guide into the forest to observe the fascinating chimps at a close range. Watching them interact with each other and go about their daily routine of grooming, playing and foraging is an incredible experience. Chimpanzees share 98% of our human DNA, making them our closest living relatives. It is not so surprising then that we find the habits and biology of these primates so fascinating to study. Chimps are easily sighted in Uganda due to the high concentration of the species here. Later in the day you will visit the local communities and get to know their way of life; Or go for swamp walk at Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. For bird lovers the highlight of the swamp walk is spotting the beautiful great blue turaco. Both the Community Walk and Swamp Walk are operated by KAFRED, a registered CBO and the income is used to develop community projects like hospitals. Please let Blessedia know which walk you prefer in the afternoon.

Day 7: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast you will drive for 3½ hours to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This park is Uganda’s most visited game reserve and arguably the most scenic. The park protects the vast savannah plains, bushland, wetlands and forests that lie at the base of the Rwenzori mountain range. Kazinga Channel, which flows through the park and connects Lake George in the east to Lake Edward in the west, attracts a rich array of animals and birds, including the Nile crocodile and one of the world’s largest concentration of hippos. You will spend the next two (02) nights at Kyambura Game Lodge, situated at the eastern edge of Queen Elizabeth National Park, in the western part of the great East African Rift valley.Accommodation is provided in seven spacious and tastefully designed self-contained grass- thatched cottages, with bath tubs/showers with views to the park, running hot and cold water, and a private wooden balcony perched over Queen Elizabeth National Park. Later in the day you will go for a boat safari. when the sun is high in the sky the animals make their way to the river for a drink, we will head to Kazinga Channel for an exciting boat safari (a fantastic way to get close to wildlif). This activity is at additional cost of USD 50 per person. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and overnight stay at Kyambura Game Lodge.

Day 9: Ishasha Tree Climbing Lions

The southern part of Queen Elizabeth National park is our next destination. This area is famous for its tree-climbing lions. While you will often see lion cubs climbing trees for fun, adults very rarely do this. In Ishasha however, the lions like to spend the hot afternoons snoozing on a shaded fig tree branch. The raised elevation exposes them to a nice breeze as well as providing an escape from the bothering tsetse flies below. While you are on the hunt for the tree climbing lions don’t miss the stunning scenery and excellent birdlife in this remote spot of the park. You will spend a night at Ishasha Wilderness Camp on Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Your guides will lead you through the thick creepers and undergrowth as you trek to find the Gorillas. This trek can take you half an hour to three quarters of the day. The steeply forested landscape is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. The amount of time you take during the trek largely depends on the movement of the gorillas. But it is an extraordinary feeling being with these beautiful yet endangered Creatures.
